Steelton child care center face challenges of virtual learning, need volunteers

STEELTON, Pa. (WHTM) — Some schools in our area are starting to ease back into in-person instruction, but there’s still a big need for some type of child care and extra help for those learning online. Christ Cornerstone Academy has been a before- and after-school program for seven years, but since the beginning of the school year, the staff has switched gears, now providing what they call cyber care for students. Lancaster County scheduled to vote on distribution of remaining CARES Act money

LANCASTER, Pa (WHTM) – Lancaster County Commissioners are scheduled to vote on a plan to allocate, or reallocate, nearly $36-million in federal CARES Act coronavirus relief funds. The plan to distribute the money prioritizes economic relief spending, much like it did earlier this year when commissioners allocated close to $78-million of the CARES Act money. According to Lancaster County Commissioner, Ray D’Agostino, some of the money from the initial allocation will not be used, which is why there is $36-million left to spend. 50 million and counting: 11 days out, early voting in 2020 surpasses 2016 total

WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) — More than 50 million people have already voted in the upcoming election, besting the entire early voting period ahead of the 2016 race, according to the U.S. Elections Project. The total includes early in-person voting and mail-ballots that have already been received by states. According to the U.S. Elections Project, some 52.7 million Americans had cast ballots by Friday afternoon. The early voting total of 2016 was 47 million Americans. COVID-19 vaccine trial from AstraZeneca, Oxford approved to resume in US

(NewsNation Now) — Federal health regulators have given the green light to resume U.S. studies of a leading Covid-19 vaccine candidate from AstraZeneca PLC and the University of Oxford, according to a release from AstraZeneca. The FDA Friday authorized the restart in the U.S. following the resumption of trials in other countries. Los Tres Cubanos brings Cuban cuisine to Harrisburg

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) — Los Tres Cubanos is a local eatery that offers tasty meals, with a side dish of history. The five-year fixture at the corner of Race Street in Shipoke was started by a trio of friends. "It was originated by three Cuban doctors in Harrisburg; friends, and colleagues," Dr. Jose Manjon, co-owner said. Now, there are just two owners, Manjon and his wife Patricia, who who oversees the day to day operations. "Cuban food is very flavorful, highly marinated, and not spicy at all," Manjon said.
