The fast food juggernaut’s plan is to sell all its Russia locations to a local owner and remove the iconic McDonald’s arches from the buildings, so that its distinctive branding can’t be appropriated in any way. “The humanitarian crisis caused by the war in Ukraine, and the precipitating unpredictable operating environment, have led McDonald’s to conclude that continued ownership of the business in Russia is no longer tenable, nor is it consistent with McDonald’s values,” McDonald’s said in a statement.

Speaking at Seminole State College today, Florida Surgeon General Dr. Joseph Ladapo General claimed personal freedom is more important to him as a doctor than protecting Americans and health care workers from the pandemic.

Continuing to try and "own the libs" instead of acting like state legislators and medical professionals, Governor Ron DeSantis and his wacko Surgeon General continued their rants against any form of vaccine mandates against the highly infectious virus, including any requirements for health care workers.

Ladapo was happy health care providers weren't dismissed for refusing to get vaccinated during the pandemic in Florida.

"A personal decision they choose to not do for a variety of reasons," he said.

Ladapo continued, “I personally, and I know many of you appreciate that Florida fortunately never went down that path of disregard for human beings and lunacy because it doesn’t make sense. It also happens to be crazy.”

The only crazy here is Dr. Ladapo.

DeSantis also addressed the crowd and said he was glad he "protected our nurses against mandates.”

McDonald’s Pulls Out Of Russia Altogether

The Golden Arches will soon no longer be in Russia, as McDonald's end its thirty-year experiment with the former Communist stronghold. After temporarily closing all of it's restaurants, and continuing to pay its 67,000 employees in Russia, they've decided that "doing business in Russia is no longer tenable."

McDonald's became the symbol of glasnost in action 30 years ago when it opened its first restaurant in Moscow. But after temporarily shutting down more than 800 restaurants following the invasion of Ukraine, McDonald's has decided to leave Russia altogether.

The burger chain will sell its Russia business, saying the "humanitarian crisis caused by the war in Ukraine, and the precipitating unpredictable operating environment, have led McDonald's to conclude that continued ownership of the business in Russia is no longer tenable, nor is it consistent with McDonald's values."

In March, shortly after the war began, McDonald's followed other Western companies and temporarily shut down its restaurants in Russia.

Once the sale is finalized, the Russian restaurants will be "de-Arched," meaning the locations will no longer be allowed to use the McDonald's name, logo or menu. McDonald's (MCD) said its employees will still be paid until the transaction closes and that "employees have future employment with any potential buyer."

McConnell: Senate Will Vote Wednesday On $40 Billion Ukraine Aid Package

(Reuters) -- Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) said Sunday that he expects the Senate to vote on Wednesday to approve about $40 billion in proposed aid to help Ukraine resist Russia's invasion, after holding a related procedural vote on Monday.

"We expect to invoke cloture -- hopefully by a significant margin -- on the motion to proceed on Monday, which would set us up to approve the supplemental on Wednesday," McConnell told reporters on a conference call from Stockholm after visiting the Ukrainian capital on Saturday. He was referring to a procedural "cloture" vote that caps further debate on a matter at 30 hours.

President Joe Biden requested $33 billion in aid for Ukraine on April 28, including over $20 billion in military assistance. The U.S. House of Representatives boosted the sum to roughly $40 billion, adding more military and humanitarian aid.

Speaking from the capital of Sweden, which along with Finland plans to seek membership in NATO, McConnell voiced strong support for both countries joining the 30-member Western military alliance created to deter Soviet aggression.

"They have very capable militaries, both of them," McConnell said. "They will be important additions to NATO if they choose to join, and I think the United States ought to be first in line to ratify the treaty for both these countries to join."
