City leaders gathered Monday to honor Sarah-Ann Shaw, the trailblazing journalist who was Boston’s first female African-American broadcast reporter, during a wreath-laying ceremony at The Embrace statue on Boston Common. Shaw died on March 21. A lifelong Bostonian, Shaw worked for WBZ-TV from 1969-2000, according to the city. Joining Mayor Michelle Wu at Monday’s ceremony were, Shaw’s daughter, Klare Shaw, Rev. Mariama White-Hammond, Chief of Environment, Energy, and Open Space; Imari Paris Jeffries, President and CEO, Embrace Boston, and other community leaders.
